Dove v Bergsteiger

Marshfield Kennel
Gifted Bird Dogs for Experienced Hunters

Brutus was conceived in a grouse hunting camp in Wisconsin and whelped on a snowy day in Maine.  He was the biggest pup in the litter, but is not the largest adult.  He has been a dream to train.  Fetch training has been exceptionally easy with much more positive than negative reinforcement.  He's one of the most cooperative and eager to please GSP's I have ever seen, and a fine example of the improvements we are making in our breeding stock.

Brutus was "too ugly to sell" as a pup.  Folks shied away from the dot on his head.  But he is a very handsome boy.  I'm happy to have kept him as he is quickly becoming my favorite hunting companion.  We will continue to campaign him in NAVHDA, and he is available at stud to approved dams.  Brutus' hips are .19/.19 in PennHIP and are in the 100th percentile.  You really can't do better than that (seriously, it's impossible).  He is a hard hunter, highly athletic and very eager to please.

You know we are serious about names around here.  Brutus is named after Marcus Junius Brutus, the man who orchestrated and participated in Gaius Julius Caesar's assassination.  His name is unfortunately associated with words like brutal.  Our Brutus is anything but brutal.

The Brutus we named him for represents idealism and loyalty.  Brutus' disloyalty to Caesar came at a time when his loyalty to Rome was challenged.  Brutus was a tyrant killer in a society that revered tyrant killers.  In the legend, Brutus was the only one who actually faced Caesar.  He was a man who loved his country enough to murder his friend.

Our Brutus is huge, like his namesake.  He is loyal almost to a fault.  It's hard to think of a dog as being "idealistic" but that seems to describe Brutus.  His is a big, goofy, loyal dog who also happens to be a dynamic hunter and pretty easy to keep around the house.

Brutus is available to approved dams.  We'd like to see a hip evaluation (preferably a PennHIP score) and a title.  Please let us know about your girl and we can talk.
